“One of the ‘original’ properties on the strip the Flamingo is a bit like a ‘mature’ showgirl, trying to use bling & glitz to mask the signs of aging. The long lines at reception are a given in Las Vegas but most of staff around the lobby & concierge are courteous and efficient rising above the agitation & exuberance of people arriving to party on the Strip. The same cannot be said of staff at food and drink areas. I was shouted at by a server at one concession for ‘standing in the wrong place’ and at a drinks concession I had to repeat my order for a rum daiquiri twice and then confirm I wanted it with rum. The room was large - a really good size and with a large bathroom. I was impressed by the size of the bath (which is in addition to a shower cubicle) but found I couldn’t soak in the tub because there was no plug! Other signs of lack of the aging showgirl syndrome where the fact that the light switches on the bedside wall lights didn’t work and there was blu-tac at the top of the padded headboards above both beds. On the positive side, the bed was really comfy and I slept soundly every night of my stay. The Flamingo is also in a good location, on the Strip & opposite Caesar’s and all the concessions there. Another exit takes you to the Linq promenade where there are lots of bars and restaurants (including breakfast options!) There is also an entrance to the monorail for anyone heading to the convention centre and other parts of Vegas - it is a good way to see the Strip from above.”
