“Everybody in this hotel I’ve experienced is utterly charming. We had a challenge with the hotel organised pick up (who wasn’t there on arrival, then got lost and then picked us up 45 mins late) and felt a little hassled in check in. The reception team listened to my feedback and gave me a very generous solution. We booked with Amex Platinum so you have $30 breakfast credit per guest and $100 dining credit as well as early check in and late check out. If this wasn’t good enough you also get an upgrade, subject of course to availability. The hotel, albeit rather dated from the outside, is lovely inside and commands a very central place in Central Houston. Lots of nice bars and restaurants around and the Toyota Centre is only a 5 minute walk if you want to watch the Houston Rockets basketball, we did . The excursion company we used for our tour (Houston Tours) were literally a block away. Breakfast is served in the hotels signature restaurant, Toro Toro and I rank it one of top 3 breakfasts I’ve had in the 62 countries I’ve visited. Overall, a great place to stay, especially if you are going on a cruise from Galveston (as we are). Whoever is dealing with the staff in this hotel, well done. As a CEO myself it’s lovely to see happy and motivated colleagues.”
