“The staff at Dreams Playa Bonita were friendly, pleasant, and welcoming throughout my staycation. Their kindness contributed positively to the overall atmosphere of the property. I also enjoyed visiting the café. The pastry selections were tasty, fresh, and a nice treat during the stay. I was especially delighted to see sherbet available, which was a refreshing and unexpected option in Panama’s warm weather. These thoughtful food offerings and the courteous staff were among the highlights of my experience. Serious Skin Reaction and Dismissive Response From Management I stayed at Dreams Playa Bonita Panama from July 11–14, 2026 and unfortunately, the experience resulted in significant physical discomfort and emotional distress. During my stay, I began waking up each day with an increasing number of itchy, red bites and rosy-red splotches covering my body from my feet to my neck. Every morning there were noticeably more than the day before. I repeatedly informed hotel management that the marks did not appear to be ordinary mosquito bites because new ones continued to appear each morning after sleeping in my room. Management continued to tell me that the bites were caused by chitre mosquitoes and advised me to apply alcohol to relieve the irritation. I was also instructed to use Defender Totalitas Repellent before going outside. I repeatedly explained that I did not believe the issue was occurring outdoors. My concern was that I was waking up with new bites every morning after sleeping in my room, yet my concerns were consistently dismissed. I did not feel that my room was thoroughly investigated or that appropriate accommodations were offered. The itching disrupted my sleep throughout my stay and continued after I returned home. I have since sought medical attention, but there is no immediate treatment to eliminate the reaction, leaving me to endure the discomfort while my skin heals. The visible red marks have also been extremely embarrassing. I have been forced to wear long pants and long-sleeved shirts to cover my skin because people have stared, frowned, or reacted as though I may have a contagious condition, adding emotional distress to an already difficult situation. Bed bugs travel in suitcases and on clothing so everything had to be thrown away. I expected a relaxing vacation, but instead I left with ongoing itching, interrupted sleep, visible skin irritation, medical condition.”
