“Given the average reviews I was very pleasantly surprised by the Scandic Neptun. Checking in was easy and the young man welcoming us was friendly, efficient and very helpful - as well as booking a taxi to the airport for us he arranged for a packed breakfast for our early departure. The room was excellent. Large, comfortable, superb bathroom (with a real bath) and a large floor standing fan for when the room got a little warm. The beds were comfortable and having a settee to relax on was a real bonus. The location was good being around 10 minutes walk from the ferry terminal and much less to the harbourside. Breakfast was fairly busy but it was a Saturday morning, there was plenty of choice and the quality was good. Like most hotels in Bergen it was very expensive - for the cost of our two nights we could have stayed for three in the UK and had change. Found the lifts rather fiddly needing to scan the room key before selecting the floor number is a pain if you're carrying shopping and the key is in your pocket. I doubt if we'll ever return to Bergen but if we do I'd happily stay there again”
