“This is a small, beautiful, traditional Venetian hotel in a top location very close to Piazza San Marco and centrally located on a small canal in Calle Fabbri between two vaporetti stations. I've stayed at the hotel a number of times over period of 40 years. A bonus is that it's very easy to reach the hotel without having to heave luggage up and down Venice's numerous bridges and steps. The hotel is very quiet despite its central location and rooms are freshly decorated in traditional Venetian style with silky fabric walls, Venetian lighting etc. The beds are very comfortable and rooms are immaculately clean. Many rooms have an outlook over the canal with passing gondolas. All reception staff are friendly, professional, kind and always very helpful. I booked a room for two nights and was able to extend my stay to nine nights as staff and management made an effort to accommodate me at short notice. The hotel offers an excellent buffet breakfast with a large variety of hot and cold breakfast dishes - everything fresh, good quality and hygienically covered under lidded serving dishes. Freshly made coffee is made to order and served to guests at their table. Pleasant, helpful staff in the breakfast room and breakfast is very reasonably priced and excellent value. The Bistrot de Venise bistro restaurant on the ground floor of the hotel is terrific, with a highly skilled chef producing delicious and beautifully presented traditional Venetian dishes at both lunch and dinner. A local gondolier was lunching at an adjacent table and a local business woman at another table on one occasion - locals dining is confirmation that the food is good. At dinner, the waiters are attentive without hovering and are knowledgeable with wine suggestions. I travelled throughout Italy for eight weeks and this restaurant was an eating highlight of my trip. I highly recommend the hotel and the restaurant. The hotel doesn't have a lift but this wasn't a problem as I found that staff will assist to carry luggage to your room if required. I'm female, aged in my late 70s and had no difficulty using the stairs to the second and third floors. I also had no difficulty with carrying my carry-on size suitcase up and down stairs.”
