“If your aim is to explore the messy vibrancy of the old quarter, then this is a good option. It sits down a quiet side alley, just a short walk from one of the main shopping streets and the cloister of Santa Chiara, one of the treasures of Naples. The hotel is decent and the staff are friendly. The dining hall is as magnificent as in their pictures. The air conditioning works! The old quarter can be a shock if you are not prepared - narrow alleys, graffiti and rubbish everywhere. Neither the transfer to or from the hotel could get to the front door, so we had to walk the last 20m up the sort of alley I would not normally walk into but is simply a normal side street in the old quarter. The hotel itself was perfectly nice with friendly staff and decent rooms - but somehow it didn't quite hit the spot for me. Maybe that is not entirely fair, as this was all part and parcel of the messy, vibrant, chaotic vibe that is the old quarter. An ancient crumbling city, still bursting with life.”
