“Very handy for the railway station, but beware as the booking office clerk in the station did not speak English or German , despite being 200 yards from the Austrian border, and there is no ticket machine. Luckily a helpful person was able to interpret for us. The hotel reception staff spoke perfect English. The evening meal was nice. When going down for breakfast at 07:30 it appeared that breakfast was not fully ready. When asked for hot water we were given a kettle of cold water. The hotel is generally very dated, the beds were ok we slept well but not the best. When paying my bill the card machine would not take my card and I was told it was my card that was the issue not the hotel machine, but my card worked everywhere else in Hungary. Luckily I had sufficient cash to pay the bill and was able to use card everywhere else. The hotel is a longish walk from the town and shops, banks etc not a problem for us but may be an issue for those with reduced mobility.”
