“Perfect location with good parking at the hotel Several areas to sit depending on whether you preferred a quiet space or enjoyed entertainment. Pleasant, welcoming staff who appeared happy to help and answer any questions. The attached Coachman bar and Bistro was thriving and served a wide range of tasty meals at mid range prices. Again there were cheerful staff who kept busy, ensuring customers a positive experience. We visited this hotel many years ago and found it drab, outdated and in need of a good clean! However, the difference from then to now is inspiring. The frontage has been fully repainted along with new decor and furniture inside. The rooms have been updated with fresh tiling, new showers and modern fittings. There was only 1 small (very slow) lift available to take any guests to the 3 floors where the bedrooms were situated. The room we had, for whatever reason, was the last room at the end of the last corridor on the 3rd floor! Although I'm not disabled, i do have a long term limitation in the flexibility of my knee and the thought of climbing all those stairs each time did not appeal. The door to the toilet/ shower room in our suite did not close fully without force and even then could not lock. However, after 45 yrs of being with my husband, this wasn't a major issue for us. We forgot to mention to reception when we left as we were only staying for 1 night. The only other thing was that the breakfast buffet could have been a kept a bit hotter and topped up. My husband got the last piece of bacon and when I returned about 10 mins later for some fruit, there was still none to be seen.”
