“Beautiful historic hotel, beautifully curated, updated in decor yet importantly keeping its unique character and charm - including the 300 year old panelling in the dining room. Very much appreciated after staying in another historic property where the rooms had been disappointedly over modernised. Over all it was a delightful place, our room was lovely, spacious and comfortable The gardens and views were also lovely. The staff were really superb, friendly, attentive and responsive. The only note that let it down was our evening meal. We were there on a Monday night, and we wondered if it was the chef’s night off, as it was distinctly disappointing, especially the salad we ordered. However the staff handled our complaint politely and professionally and replaced our crispy beef Asian salad, with another meal. I ordered the alternative feta salad which sadly again was over vinegary and basically just not very nice. I didn’t mention this again as I didn’t want to moan…. but on a positive note this morning the breakfast was fabulous!”
