“I’ve now stayed at the Gainsborough Bath Spa Hotel twice, and after two excellent experiences I honestly wouldn’t consider staying anywhere else when I return to Bath next year. The location is ideal. It’s right in the centre of Bath, but just far enough off the busiest streets that you’re not constantly surrounded by crowds whenever you come and go. Despite that, you’re less than a minute’s walk from the main shopping streets and all of the city’s key attractions. It’s certainly not the cheapest place to stay, but if your budget allows, I genuinely think it’s worth the money. You’re paying for an outstanding location, beautiful rooms and excellent facilities, particularly the spa. The spa itself is spotless, exceptionally well maintained and never feels overcrowded thanks to the allocated guest access times. That system works really well and means you can actually relax rather than compete for loungers or space. My only suggestion for improvement would be to extend the guest access windows slightly. Something like 7:00-10:00am and 5:00-8:00pm would feel more generous, especially considering guests have already paid a premium to stay at the hotel. The staff deserve a special mention. Every member of the team I’ve encountered has been friendly, personable and genuinely helpful without ever feeling overbearing. The rooms are spacious, beautifully presented and equipped with everything you’d expect from a hotel of this standard. I was fortunate enough to stay during the recent heatwave, and the in-room air conditioning was incredibly effective—a feature that made a huge difference and was very much appreciated. After two consistently fantastic stays, the Gainsborough has become my go-to hotel in Bath. I can’t wait to return next year.”
