“OMGosh where should I start? booked last minute as a get together with family, we were told on the phone by a young girl that we didn't need to book a table for dinner, we could just turn up. We arrived at 7.15 to check in only to be told that the restaurant was closed because the hotel was in the middle of being sold on and the chef hadn't been replaced... WHAT? in a matter of 2 hours? Very disappointing, we were told to go to Toby Carvery down the road but being NY eve they were closing early so everything felt a bit rushed. We were given room 209 which smelled damp and musty, there was a huge brown stain on the ceiling that looked as if could fall in at any minute, obviously a leak somewhere, the towel rail was rusty and hanging off the wall it was a terrible room so I asked to be moved. we were then given room 205 which was marginally better but we couldn't close the bathroom door, the mattress must have been really old, it was really uncomfortable and we could here the springs creak every time we moved. We just could not wait to get up and go home. The staff however, were very pleasant.”
