“The location was very good for me as it is fairly close to the railway station. The Shower/Toilet room was spacious and clean. The room was adequate, slightly dated but okay. The reception was often closed, although someone would come if you pressed the bell. I rarely saw anybody around and anyone could just walk in and walk up the the stairs. I wasn't keen on the stairs because two of the corners were rounded giving rise to steps that went from wide to narrow, as in a spiral staircase. There was no lift in the hotel and all rooms are on the 1st and 2nd floors. The hotel says that they have free Wi-Fi, by that I assume it's free because you can't connect to it. I asked twice about it and just got the reply that it is a bit temperamental! I never once managed to connect. The windows were old sash windows and the paint was flaking and the gulls made a terrible row all through the night (not the hotel's fault). I wasn't aware before I arrived that the hotel does not serve breakfast. They told me that the Meridian Cafe nextdoor does breakfast but that didn't open until 8.30. I wanted breakfast about 7.30 but I found Cafe 51 about 5 mins walk from the hotel - I can certainly recommend Cafe 51.”
