“The location was incredible. It is on a quiet street which was blocked off from cars so it was very quiet. It was also nearly to lots of cafes, bars and restaurants within walking distance. Also quite close to the nearest metro station. Unfortunately, our stay coincided with a heatwave in Paris, with temperatures exceeding 30°C every day and reaching 34°C on the hottest day. Throughout our entire stay, the air conditioning was not functioning anywhere in the hotel, including our room. While the hotel stated that the air conditioning was “broken,” it was difficult not to question this explanation given the timing during an exceptionally hot weekend. As we had already paid for the accommodation upon arrival, we were unable to cancel our booking and find alternative accommodation. When we raised our concerns, the hotel offered only a small fan for the room, which provided very little relief. The heat became so unbearable at night that we resorted to sleeping with wet towels over ourselves in an attempt to stay cool. Despite the considerable discomfort and the fact that a key advertised amenity was unavailable for the duration of our stay, the hotel refused to offer any form of compensation.”
