“A nice place with eclectic decorations and owners. Comfy beds and lovely rooms. Clean, tidy and welcoming. It’s an odd one. The property itself is lovely, it’s a great pity you don’t get an en-suite as this would definitely elevate it. 7 rooms and only 2 bathrooms, potentially 14 people waiting for a bathroom. We arrived and checked in, friendly and helpful and they like dogs, always good. 😊. Dinner was an odd affair, I was told off twice. Once for letting them know I had an allergy to eggs. Told I should have let them know when booking dinner, we didn’t book dinner, they asked if we wanted dinner when we arrived and told it would be at 7pm, no time choice. We said yes and expected menus, none ever appeared. This is where it got a little odd. Starter was a cold pea soup, in a massive bowl. They asked if we wanted champagne, then proceeded to put it in the soup. Then we discovered the pea soup was freezing cold. Not something anyone expected. Main was a chicken and veg dish, very tasty. Desert was effortless and actually quite uninspired. A glass with a little ice cream some chopped brownie and a bit of fruit. The second time I was told off was for touching the interesting table lamps, battery led ones, nope don’t touch. Oops. The bedroom was lovely, comfy bed and warm. On to breakfast and again a little odd. Nobody about an already informed breakfast would be at 7:30. On an island in the middle were some glass containers of cereal, which I’m a big fan of. Unfortunately no non dairy milk, in fact only a container of yogurt. Then under a glass server was a few slices of ham and two choices of cheese. Next to these was a basket with warm bread rolls and of course a help yourself thing of coffee. Pretty uninspiring for breakfast and what is a £90 a night place. Next I went looking for any staff to ask for any other milk, and knives! All we had were spoons, no knives to be had. No staff to be found. I even went into their kitchen to hunt for someone. If this is their idea of breakfast service, it leaves a lot to be desired and to not any hot food at all is disappointing.”
