“We chose this hotel for its location and pictures online indicated a comfortable, clean hotel that would be suitable for my partner, myself and our 10 month old daughter. It's situated near the Monheim centre and has good public transport links. The lady who served breakfast was very friendly. The hotel didn't have anybody to welcome us upon arrival. This also meant that we were unable to access facilities, get cutlery or address issues with the room such as the half missing curtain, the non functional fridge or television, not the unmade bed or stains on mattresses. We made do with what we had instead having to use one of the mattresses and one of the duvets to block the window at night time. The window was also drafty leaving the room incredibly cold during the night which caused our baby to become ill after the first night. For two days we didn't see any staff at all. We self catered for part of our stay resulting in food waste in the bins. In the evening of day two we finally saw the hotel owner in the evening and asked her to empty our bins. She followed this up by providing us with a bin bag to do the dirty work ourselves. She advised that the cleaner had been to clean the room but because we had not been in this had not been done. Really not sure of the logic in that. Anyhow day three we saw the cleaner as we left the hotel for the day and asked for the room to be cleaned. Upon returning in the evening we discovered that the room had not been hoovered nor had the bedding been changed. As the stay continued we continued to clean the room ourselves including wiping down of the surfaces in the bathroom and the table we used to eat. On that note the furniture and fittings did not match what was advertised online. It seemed a collection of free out of service office furniture the owners found on the street. Rather than hotel vibes you got office and bed sit. Day four we asked for the bedding to be changed again on our way out as we saw the cleaner in the hallway. Shortly after I received a call from the owner who immediately starts verbally abusing me on the phone, shouting and screaming I could barely make out what she was saying. She was frantic.”
