“I recently completed a 3-night stay at the Sofitel Sydney Wentworth. While the overall stay was perfectly acceptable, my initial experience at the Club Millésime lounge left a lot to be desired. On Friday night, coinciding with Vivid Sydney, the lounge became severely overcrowded. The team seemed unprepared to manage the seating capacity versus the number of guests, resulting in a frustrating hour-long wait just to obtain a seat. Fortunately, management improved the situation the following day by opening up the outside seating extension. As a Platinum Plus member, I was also disappointed that the hotel did not offer me an upgrade offer, which I do understand; during VIVID, the room occupancy must be packed, but the receptionist should explain and apologise for unavailable upgrades. That should make this visit feel more comfortable. Finally, the staffing issues extended to the front desk. At checkout, there were 6-7 guests lined up, but only one staff member was on duty. Having a backup team ready to step in during peak departure times would make the process much more convenient and reflect the standard expected of this brand. The property is nice, but management needs to better anticipate capacity during major city events.”
