Mittelberg lies at 1215 meters and is the highest and oldest place in the Kleinwalsertal which due to its geographical situation can only be reached by car from Germany. Coming from Oberstdorf in the Allgäu you pass through Riezlern and Hirschegg and then through a few small villages - the 2,000 meter mountains close in and the valley is cut off from the outside world. The lack of through traffic guarantees peace and relaxation. This does not mean that nothing happens in the Kleinwalsertal! On the contrary - après-ski for all tastes is assured by the many cafés, huts and other places, including a vivid night-life.
